Zeroing in on Zero1
In addition to various data mining projects, the Garage exhibition also gives us some examples of imaginative DIY productions that use elements of digital technology along with other modalities of manufacture for the sake of creating frankensteinian hybrids.The Brazilian group Gambiologia is a good example. Gambiarra is the Brazilian-Portuguese term for “makeshift arrangement,” very similar in meaning to the French term bricollage. Simply defined, it is about taking what you can find to make what you need, and in that spirit, Gambiologia has made a series of wardrobe additions called Gambiological Armor that take our seemingly inevitable evolution toward becoming cyborg entities seriously, by making over-the-top gadget organizers for everyday street usage.

Desta vez, a respeito da participação na Zero1 Biennial, em San Jose (California), a única Bienal de Arte e Tecnologia do mundo. ZERO1 – São José – Califórnia
Actually it's ZERO1 Biennial in San José - California! Estamos participando da bienal com nossa armadura Gambiológica e novos aparatos sonoros eletrônicos interativos: teclado circuit bending, atari punk console em lata, pistola espacial hot glue ultra sônica e joystick holy father. Também apresentamos a indumentária gambiológica sinalizada com leds verdes de alto brilho e faixas refletivas, dentre outras peculiaridades. Funcionando com uma bateria 12 Volts de motocicleta, foi inaugurada com uma performance do nosso Grão Mestre Ganso, que circulou pela galeria vestindo também um autêntico capacete Jury Rig e uma máscara no melhor estilo Mickey Mouse Solution para deleite dos ali presentes. Agradecemos a todos envolvidos na Zero1 Biennial, sem exceção, especialmente às curadoras Gisela Domschke e Jaime Austin.
We are participating in the biennial with our Gambiological Armor and new interactive electronic sound devices: circuit bending keyboard, canned atari punk console, spatial ultra sonic hot glue gun and holy father joystick . Also present the Gambiological clothing flagged with the green high-brightness LEDs and reflective bands, among other peculiarities. Working with a 12 volt motorcycle battery, it was inaugurated with a performance by our Grand Master Goose, who circulated through the gallery also wearing an authentic Jury Rigged helmet and a Mickey Mouse Solution style mask, for the delight of those present. Thanks very much to everyone involved in the Zero1 Biennial, without exception.
